Dear Cultural Colleagues,

We are proud to announce the launch of the Miami-Dade County Cultural Resource Directory online as a way to connect arts organizations - in tandem with  Miami Arts, Culture & Heritage Months  (December 2022 and January 2023.) Now, you will be able to find the contact information and websites for potential cultural partners as well as important resources, such as local arts funders, art-centric businesses and service organizations to support your artistic work. Below you will find a free, easy, online way to be included – and we need you to respond by January 20th.

As 2022 comes to a close, we recognize that we are now fully emerged in a post-COVID era with in-person cultural activities seeing the enthusiastic return of arts audiences evidenced by the resounding success of Arts Week 2022 and the 20th year of Art Basel Miami Beach. Earlier this year, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs unveiled the  Return & Rediscover the Arts  campaign, inviting art-goers back to our theaters, concert halls, cultural centers, festivals and museums. As we continue to work with all of you in rebuilding attendance to cultural events, we realize that the pandemic taught us many lessons leading us to rethink delivery systems for the arts and the enormous value of partnership opportunities.

Building Community Through Connectivity

In conversations with artists and cultural organizations, the staff and I are hearing a common theme around the current desire for more opportunities among arts groups to engage with each other. The arts are inherently collaborative, and creativity is supercharged when the cultural community can interact and work cooperatively.

Even more exciting, this “phone book” type directory can also be used by the general public to discover cultural groups across Miami-Dade County through an easy-to-navigate, searchable website. For example, a parent looking for music classes for their child will be able to search the “Music” category and a visual art enthusiast visiting Miami will be able to select the “Museum” category and view a list of all the museums in Miami-Dade County.

DEADLINE: Friday, January 20th

How can I participate in the Cultural Resource Directory?

It is free and easy to submit your organization’s information to be included in the online Cultural Resource Directory. To be listed, complete this registration form before the deadline on Friday, January 20th.  All entries are subject to editing and approval. Find out more here.

Together with our partners, the Arts and Business Council of Miami and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, we hope to publish the online Cultural Resource Directory in early spring. Long-timers in Miami’s art world may remember previous, printed editions of the directory. We are more than ready for an updated directory and this resource will also serve as a “cultural census,” particularly with all the new Miami-Dade-based artist collectives and arts groups that have been established in recent years.

CULTURAL SPACES

Another universal theme among the arts field is the challenge of finding venues and spaces for artists and arts organizations. The Cultural Resource Directory features a useful cultural facilities category where artists and cultural groups can search for spaces that may be available to perform or exhibit their work in neighborhoods across Miami-Dade County.

Together, we are part of one of the most diverse and dynamic cultural places on earth. There is no doubt that this online navigational resource will help us more easily find each other and power our collective path forward in amazingly simple and new ways. Please feel free to share this information with artists, cultural managers, and/or arts-related businesses in your networks to help us build a comprehensive and inclusive Cultural Resource Directory database for all. We look forward to discovering all of the creative connectivity in the year ahead!

Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2023!
